Wastewater Treatment: Heavy Industrial Processes
Membrane technology can remove suspended solids, oils and greases, heavy metals, biological and chemical oxygen demand (BOD and COD), salts, and biological contamination from your waste stream. Not only can you recycle your water or dispose of it safely, you can recover potentially valuable components from the waste stream. With microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis membranes available in tubular, spiral and hollow fiber configurations, KMS has what you need to maximize the return from your waste stream. With savings as high as 90%, membrane systems improve on nearly all conventional wastewater treatment technologies. Some applications include:
Acid and Phosphate Cleaners
The right membrane technology removes oils, grease, and dirt particles from your bath solution, extending bath life and reducing bath heating costs. More effective than other technologies, membranes significantly lower bath operating costs.

Die-cast Wastewater
With the right combination of technologies, die cast wastewater and its components can be reused. Membrane technology cleans the water sufficiently for reuse in the die spray mixture. It captures the die spray, which can then be recycled back as well.
Dye Penetrant Rinse Waters
Die penetrants absorb UV light, making it difficult for the microorganisms that purify sewage to do their work. Membrane technology can be used to remove any or all of the rinse water constituents.
Heavy Metals Treatment
Membrane techniques can reduce the heavy metals in wastewater to less than one quarter of the amount left after traditional chemical water treatment and precipitation methods. The membrane technology costs less to install and maintain, making it a win-win proposition.
Electrochemical machining processes require the removal of metal hydroxides from the bath for it to remain functional. One or more membrane technologies can be combined to remove these impurities, increasing bath life and reducing operating costs.

Spent Aqueous Degreasing Baths Compressor Condensate
Tubular charged membranes remove oil and grease to levels of 20 ppm or less at a cost of only pennies per gallon. Water can be reused or discharged into the sewer.

Spent Metalworking Coolants and Lubricants
The oils in spent metalworking coolants and lubricants are expensive to remove chemically. Membrane technology produces water that consistently meets discharge limits and can even enable the oils to be reused.

Vibratory Finishing and Deburring Wastewater
With both metals and oil, finishing and deburring wastewater poses a problem for manufacturers. Membrane technology can handle both, reducing operating costs.
