Going beyond membranes, KMS helps citrus processors produce higher quality juice

Several of the world's largest orange juice processors turned to KMS to help reduce bitterness in their juice. KMS perfected a process that combined membrane separations and polymeric adsorption to upgrade the juice. Limonin, hesperidins and polyphenols were reduced. Now almost 30 juice processors are improving the quality of their products and their juice yields.

During the process, the membranes separate the pulp from the juice, allowing clarified juice to pass through the adsorbent. The adsorbent removes the bitter components often found in citrus juices. The pulp can then be added back to the debittered juice on a continuous basis, in the quantity desired. The result is a consistent and stable product.
