Electrocoat Paint Applications

Koch Membrane Systems: Leading In Electrocoat Paint Ultrafiltration For More Than 35 years
KPAK™ System for Electrocoat Paint
Since the late 1960's, Koch Membrane Systems has been in the forefront of developing and delivering innovative solutions for the electrocoating process. As manufacturing demands and industrial standards increased, as applications evolved into more sophisticated system design, KMS has met the challenge with membrane solutions that advance the technology, while controlling the costs.

Time and again, KMS engineers have proven not only an in-depth understanding of the process and its strict system requirements, but of the economics involved in designing, developing and upgrading electrocoating systems.

The list of satisfied customers incorporating KMS membranes into their electrocoating processes includes leading global manufacturers producing automobiles, appliances, metal furniture, lawn and garden equipment, and much more. KMS membranes for electrocoatng play a major role in bringing all these processes to a flawless finish.

spiral wound membrane element in a self-contained disposable housing equipped with easy-to-use connections.
New KMS KPAK™ 10 Ultrafiltration Module Takes Electrocoating To New Levels of Outstanding Performance and Economy.

The new larger diameter module offers increased efficiencies that significantly reduce required floor space, installation time, and operating costs.

The KPAK 10-inch UF module consists of a spiral-wound membrane element containing 462 sq. ft. (42.9 m2) of membrane area, which is double that of the 8-inch KPAK module that has been available for several years. The new 10-inch design achieves a higher permeate output relative to paint feed than other spiral membranes. The virtually zero by-pass design results in lower paint feed flow requirements and, consequently, additional savings in equipment costs because the system uses smaller pumps, less piping and fewer filters.

The new KPAK 10" UF Module is a spiral wound membrane element in a self-contained disposable housing equipped with easy-to-use connections.  The clean, easy removal and disposal of the membrane and housing as a single unit make the KPAK module an especially favorable choice for manufacturers. It reduces work strain and safety hazards.

Permeate Rate of KPAK™ 8  UF Module Compared to a Conventional 8" x 40" Spiral Elemant

The KPAK 8" UF Module Is A Complete Package Of Benefits. Whether for use in new electrocoating line, or as a replacement on exisiting equipment, the new KPAK UF Module is an ideal solution for many reasons:

•  The KPAK 8 and 10 modules use the same materials of construction - such as permeate carrier, epoxy and other components - as conventional spirals.
•  The KPAK 8 and 10 modules use the same potting and packaging technology as employed in tubular and hollow fiber UF cartridges.
•  The potted construction allows for zero by-pass of paint or cleaning solution, resulting in superior cleanability.
•  With an integral housing, the KPAK modules eliminate the need for separate housings and thereby lower system cost, as well.
•  Maximum energy efficiency is achieved with 100% of the flow going over the membrane surface.
•  Convenient victaulic type fittings are used to connect the KPAK element to the end caps, making installation fast and easy.
•  The KPAK 8 module can be installed as a direct replacement for almost every 8" diameter spiral UF in either PVC or stainless steel housings, including systems with 1" or 2" diameter process connections.
•  The KPAK 8 and 10 modules have undergone rigorous on-site testing at major automobile manufacturers in the United States, Canada, and Europe, with outstanding results.
