Rely on KMS for Affordable Solutions to Potable Water and Wastewater Treatment Problems KMS continues to drive down the cost of municipal water treatment with innovative new designs that include larger RO elements and larger UF cartridges to treat more water per square foot of floor space. Systems that require less floor space mean smaller buildings and less costly civil works. KMS systems require minimal added chemicals and often reduce the need for chlorine and other biological disinfectants. Packaged UF systems can be low cost solutions for small communities trying to cope with new drinking water regulations for surface water supplies.
A Variety of Membranes to Treat a Variety of Waters With water resources becoming scarcer and more contaminated, reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes have become popular for treatment and reuse of municipal wastewater. In addition, over the past decade, hollow-fiber ultrafiltration (UF) membranes have been introduced into large-scale municipal applications. This includes treatment of surface water for production of potable water and advanced treatment of municipal wastewater. KMS offers the submerged PURON® technology for membrane bioreactors (MBR) to treat municipal wastewater. It consists of modules containing bundles of hollow fibers fixed in a single header at their lower ends, with the fibers seated at their upper ends. The modules are submerged into biological sludge and produce a high quality filtrate. The PURON® MBR is ideal for treating municipal wastewater prior to discharge, for indirect potable use, or as pretreatment to reverse osmosis. UF membranes have been shown to be a practical and cost effective alternative to conventional chemical and physical based water and wastewater treatment, including coagulation, flocculation, clarification, and media filtration. KMS ultrafiltration Hollow Fiber membranes provide a positive barrier against viruses, bacteria, turbidity, and other water-borne contaminants. With 4-log credit from the state of California for removal of viruses from drinking water, you can count on KMS municipal water systems to reliably provide high quality water to your town or community. Whether you are processing water from a lake, river, stream, well, spring, snow melt, or even brackish water or seawater, KMS can design a compact membrane system that will provide clean water. All KMS systems are supported by a wide range of service offerings.
